Wow.  The truth of this is unsettling.  As I said before, this is not about talking ill of the dead, it’s about what happened in his life.

But this goes beyond Paterno and this scandal.  If we stop to think of all the athletes that have been involved in sexual crimes, proven or not, that have continued to have profitable careers, we realize that as a Nation, our priorities are beyond messed up.  

Sports; more important to us than anything.  You can beat your wife, get accused of rape and other crimes, even confess to those crimes and serve time, and America will forgive you.  As long as you keep winning, we’ll keep looking the other way.  The shit that falls on you will only be a side-note in the awesomeness of your legacy.

My hope for humanity continues to slip dangerously to the point of non-existence.  Fortunately I know some wonderful people that keep me encouraged.  This cartoon so perfectly sums up what is wrong with this country, and I’m not just talking about sports. ~ Kim
